Skin care is one of the more difficult topics to discuss as there are SO MANY options. A lot of these options would be considered less toxic, but like deodorant, finding one that works is the feat! There are two companies I like for providing the best skin regimens, but today, I am going to focus on the Beautycounter options.
In previous posts, I have discussed why I like Beautycounter. I don’t love all of their products (a few in the make-up line), but I love their mission and transparency. Their skincare products are second to none when it comes to products that work. And, their ingredient lists, while not the least toxic, definitely fit into our less toxic goals! Their “Never List,” or list of products they do not use, includes 1800 ingredients! This ban is higher than the European Union (~1400), Canada (~600), and the U.S. (a whopping 30).
Beautycounter has 3 main skincare collections: Countermatch, Countercontrol, and Countertime. I have used all three with great results. They are formulated around 4 key steps: cleanse, prep, treat, and protect. The best part is their 60 day return policy! You have a full 2 months to decide if the collection you choose is right for you, and if not, return the half-empty bottles for a full refund!
The Countermatch collection is formulated to match the natural structure of the skin. It balances and hydrates the skin. Squalane, which is derived from olives, draws moisture into the skin and visibly restores elasticity. Plum Oil is rich in omegas and vitamin E, vital skin nutrients. Phytic Acid that is sourced from rice, gently exfoliates to aid in cell turnover to help the skin breathe. If you don’t have any specific skin needs, this is a great all-around skincare set. I used this line until the new anti-aging collection was released. The eye-cream in the collection is a popular product, and you can see why in the pic to the right. Countermatch is the best skin regimen for normal to slight combination skin.
The Countercontrol collection is for acne-prone skin and/or predominantly oily skin. This line mattifies your complexion, clears breakouts, and balances skin. It is MUCH safer than anything you can buy at the store. A small study showed that after four weeks of using Countercontrol,
- 89% had clearer-looking skin and more even texture
- 97% said skin felt healthier
- 97% had improved skin clarity
- 94% said redness was reduced
Since my pregnancies, I suffer from hormonal acne each month. I use this during that week to help control the blemishes and then switch back to the anti-aging line. It gives me the best of both worlds! Check out these before and afters! She used the Countercontrol regimen as well as the Resurfacing Facial peel for 8 weeks. If you want details on her exact routine, comment below! Clearly this is the best skin regimen for oil and acne-prone skin.
Lastly, Countertime is my absolute favorite skincare regimen. It is an anti-aging line that is so gentle, yet very effective. This line achieves retinol-like effects without causing irritation and sun-sensitivity. The key anti-aging ingredients are Bakuchiol and Swiss Alpine Rose. Bakuchiol has been used in traditional Chinese skincare remedies for centuries. Swiss Alpine Rose is known for its remarkable ability to protect itself against dehydration and other environmental stressors even at the highest altitudes of the Swiss Alps! BOTH ingredients are plant-derived, and the products smell yummy 🙂
In a small study, after four weeks of using Countertime,
- 97% said skin texture felt smoother
- 88% said skin looked more youthful
- 91% of participants said skin felt renewed and looked revitalized
- 88% said Countertime reduced the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
If percents aren’t your thing, these pictures are pretty convincing. I borrowed these from consultants willing to share their remarkable results. Countertime is like a facial in bottles and is definitely my pick for the best skin regimen for keeping you looking as young as you feel (maybe even younger)!
Best Skin Regimens – Request a Sample
I have personally used all three of these lines and was impressed by them all. My favorite is Countertime with “as needed” Countercontrol. I am also a fan of the Overnight Resurfacing Peel, but that is for another post. You can shop all skincare collections here.
Which one are you going to try? Do you prefer a sample first – let me know in the comments in send an email to email@example.com!
Last minute addition: Beautycounter is releasing a brand new product – Counterstart – April 2nd. This two-product set is geared toward those who want something super simple or desire to switch to clean but need a little lower price point. BC is saying it is the best skin regimen for super sensitive skin. It consists of a cleanser and a moisturizer. Obviously I haven’t tried this since it has not yet released, but if you are interested, let me know so I know how many samples to order!!
